Each year, more than 10,000 plungers head into the cold water at Sandy Point State Park to support the mission of Special Olympics of Maryland. The organization provides “year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.”

Since 2016, WorldAware has participated in the Polar Bear Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics of Maryland. Each year the team has grown, and each year we’ve beat our prior contribution. The WorldAware team raised $14,026, the 5th highest of participating corporate teams.

The money raised as part of the Polar Bear Plunge supports children and adult athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state. From meals at a competition to uniforms, medals, transportation, and more, every dollar makes a difference.

The donations provide financial support to Special Olympics of Maryland to enable its participants to succeed in the program.

Thank you to everyone that supported the WorldAware team at Maryland's Polar Bear Plunge this year. WorldAware’s corporate social responsibility strengthens our business and employees. We are dedicated to supporting the communities in which we live and serve. The Polar Bear Plunge is just one example of the many ways the WorldAware team gives back to communities around the globe.
