Alexandria, VA (June 18, 2007) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the leading association for corporate travel professionals, today announced an agreement with iJET Intelligent Risk Systems, a leading provider of global intelligence, operating risk management technology and integrated emergency response services, to make cutting-edge travel risk management tools available to NBTA members. The NBTA Foundation will incorporate iJET’s Travel Risk Management Maturity Model™ (TRM3™) metrics into its Managed Travel Index® (MTI) & Benchmarking Tool, and make iJET’s TRM3 white paper available at no cost to NBTA members.

Developed by iJET in collaboration with NBTA and others in the travel industry, TRM3 is an innovative framework that enables businesses and other organizations to quantitatively assess how well risk management practices are incorporated into their managed travel programs. Quantifying this risk will also allow travel managers to benchmark their managed travel programs against others in the marketplace.

"NBTA and the NBTA Foundation look forward to introducing the TRM3 to our members,” said Bill Connors, NBTA Executive Director & COO. “The data we collect through this partnership and the addition of TRM3 to the NBTA Foundation Managed Travel Index & Benchmarking Tool will advance the industry well into the future.”

The agreement between iJET and NBTA will cover the following activities:

  • NBTA will distribute the TRM3 white paper to all NBTA members as well as others interested in receiving the material. The TRM3 white paper introduces the TRM3 concept and outlines the steps involved in assessing the risk management component of a managed travel program.
  • The NBTA Foundation will enhance its Managed Travel Index® (MTI) & Benchmarking Tool to incorporate TRM3. The tool will enable both self-reported and independently certified TRM3 assessment results, ultimately collecting and aggregating travel risk management benchmarking data designed to benefit the corporate travel industry. The foundation will introduce the new component in July 2007 at the NBTA International Convention & Exposition.
  • NBTA and iJET will work together on member education and other programs.

“NBTA and its Global Risk Committee have their fingers on the pulse of travel safety and security,” said Bruce McIndoe, CEO of iJET Intelligent Risk Systems. “We are pleased to be working with them to help organizations assess and improve their travel risk management programs.”
