iJET to Host Free Webinar on Security Threats in Niger Delta

iJET Executive Webinar Series Continues with In-Depth Look at Security Challenges Facing Businesses and Operations in the Niger Delta

Annapolis, Maryland - June 13, 2007

iJET Intelligent Risk Systems, a leading provider of global intelligence, business resilience technology and integrated emergency response services, will host a free one-hour webinar on June 27 at 11:00 am Eastern Time to address the unique security climate faced by businesses operating in the Niger Delta, Nigeria’s epicenter for oil and gas production.

The presentation, aptly titled “Niger Delta: Operating in an Increasingly Dangerous Environment,” is the second in an ongoing series of informational webinars delivered by iJET experts. Frederic Ngoga-Gateretse, Africa Regional Manager for iJET, will lead the in-depth discussion around the challenging security environment in the Niger Delta.  A Q&A session with iJET’s Africa Analytical Team will follow.

Topics the discussion will cover include:

  • Roots of escalating security threats in the Niger Delta;
  • Current practices and threats posed by key militant groups in the region, including attacks on multinational oil facilities;
  • The nature of other prominent threats, including kidnapping and political unrest due to controversial elections;
  • Primary targets for the various regional security threats;
  • Best practices for mitigating threats to an organization’s personnel and assets.

Ngoga-Gateretse, a native of Burundi, worked as a research assistant for Solutions for Progress and at the African Studies Center at the University of Pennsylvania prior to joining iJET’s intelligence team. He was also an observer for the African Union at the United Nations and assisted in research for the book Raise the Floor - Wages and Policies That Work for All of Us, by Holly Sklar and Laryssa Mykyta. Ngoga-Gateretse often discusses the conflicts in Burundi, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo on international radio, including Radio France International, Voice of America and the British Broadcasting Company. In addition to English, he speaks French, Swahili, Kirundi, Kinyarwanda and Spanish.
