Dr. Joan Pfinsgraff Joins iJET Travel Intelligence as Director of Health Intelligence
Annapolis, Maryland - May 13, 2003 - iJET Travel Intelligence (iJET), the travel risk management
company, today announced that Dr. Joan Pfinsgraff, M.D. has joined the company
as Director of Health Intelligence. Dr. Pfinsgraff has overall responsibility
for iJET´s global health monitoring, including real-time notification of disease
outbreaks and other health-related concerns, and the continued growth of iJET´s
health intelligence databases. She will also serve as a member of iJET´s Health
Intelligence Board, an advisory panel consisting of experts in travel medicine,
infectious disease, epidemiology and tropical medicine.
Dr. Pfinsgraff manages the aggregation and analysis of information from the Centers
for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), many foreign national
health services and hundreds of other sources to provide destination-specific
health intelligence. Updated around the clock, seven days a week, iJET´s health
intelligence provides travelers with timely information and advice, including
immunization requirements and recommendations, disease incidence and risk factors,
recommended preventative measures and information on obtaining medical assistance
while traveling.
"Joan has been an invaluable member of the iJET team during the worldwide SARS outbreak,
synthesizing voluminous and at times incomplete or even contradictory information
to provide accurate, reliable and timely information to corporation decision markers
and travelers," said Dr. Bradley A. Connor, Clinical Associate Professor
of Medicine at Cornell University Medical College and Medical Director of The
New York Center for Travel and Tropical Medicine. "iJET has set a new standard
for evaluating and disseminating health information during this global outbreak."
"Our clients depend on real-time alerts and comprehensive special reports to better
understand how changing conditions around the world may impact their operations
and people overseas," said Bruce McIndoe, CEO of iJET. "Health-related
threats pose greater risks to travelers than terrorism. We are committed to helping
travelers avoid health problems through awareness and manage disruptions caused
by disease outbreaks that they may encounter on the road."
Prior to joining iJET, Dr. Pfinsgraff served as a medical consultant in the pharmaceutical
and biotech industries. During her eight-year tenure at DFM, Ltd., Dr. Pfinsgraff
worked with pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and drug delivery systems in a variety
of fields. Dr. Pfinsgraff is a graduate of Dartmouth Medical School. She completed
her residency in internal medicine at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Boston and
