GetThere Launches Powerful Travel Intelligence Service To Give Corporations and Travelers Added Sense of Security Through Alliance with iJET
Annapolis, Maryland and Menlo Park, California - March 4, 2002 - GetThere, a Sabre company, today announced the first comprehensive information service integrated into an online corporate
travel reservation system. Called GetThere Travel Intelligence, the service helps
corporate travelers prepare for, manage and avoid situations that can impact their
security, safety, health or productivity. In addition, the service provides corporate
travel and security managers with in-depth data, and a system that allows them
to monitor situations around the world and locate and contact employees traveling
in affected regions.
"In the past, general destination information was acceptable for travelers, but times
have changed," said Mark Orttung, vice president of Product Marketing at GetThere.
"Corporations and their travelers want focused, real-time intelligence that can
help travelers better plan and manage their travel. By using GetThere Travel Intelligence
combined with GetThere´s online booking system, travelers get intelligence information
when they need it the most -- as they are planning their trips."
"GetThere´s Travel Intelligence service is a very important development given peoples heightened
sensitivity to traveling," said Cheryl Hutchinson, director of Global Travel at
American Management Systems. "With 80 percent of AMS´ trips now being booked online,
it is important to provide an increased level of service and information that
empowers travelers to make the best travel decisions. It also gives our company
the ability to see where we have travelers, and whether they might need assistance."
Integrated into the GetThere DirectCorporate and GetThere DirectMidMarket online
travel reservation products, GetThere Travel Intelligence offers a seamless, cost-effective
means of advising travelers as they review travel options and make their reservations.
Real-time intelligence is provided by iJET Travel Intelligence, the worldās largest
intelligence agency dedicated solely to travel. iJET analysts monitor more than
5,000 data sources in 17 different languages, validate all information and distill
it into a concise, easy-to-read format. Travel Intelligence categories include
Security, Transportation, Health, Entry/Exit Requirements, Financial, Legal, Communications,
Environment, Culture and Language.
"Recent events have created a heightened need for businesses to take strong measures to
protect their international travelers," said Bruce McIndoe, CEO of iJET. "GetThere´s
Travel Intelligence service offers corporations the ability to minimize risk and
expand traveler safety, security and productivity throughout the corporation."
Personalized Intelligence for The Traveler
The GetThere Travel Intelligence service provides relevant information to travelers
as they make reservations on the corporate travel site, and detailed travel intelligence
is consolidated on the printable itinerary page once a trip is booked. Corporate
travelers can also subscribe to an enhanced service that delivers more comprehensive
reports, tailored to each travelerās profile and itinerary, as well as alerts
that are sent directly to each traveler before, during and after their trip.
Intelligence and Traveler Tracking for Corporate Travel Managers and Corporate Security Officers
The most comprehensive level of the service is designed for corporate human resources,
security and travel managers, and provides 24x7 access to all active alerts and
up-to-date destination intelligence for 156 countries. Managers may browse and
search the intelligence database, and direct the system to advise them when alerts
for selected destinations are issued. The service also includes powerful but simple-to-use
tools that enable corporate managers to track, locate and contact employees while
they are traveling.
Pricing and availability
GetThere Travel Intelligence is available today to companies using the GetThere
online travel reservation system. An initial group of GetThere customers are already
deploying the service and all GetThere customers will be offered a free 30-day
trial beginning in April. The primary service is based on a yearly subscription
for all employees, and the enhanced services are provided on an annual per-employee
subscription basis.
